WhatsApp Announced End of Support for Various Older Mobile OS Version

In a public blog post WhatsApp announced, End of the support for different older version of Mobile operating systems offered by Google, Apple, BlackBerry and Microsoft. After the 7th anniversary of the service would be to pursue other security functions in the future. With grounds of a high development effort and lack, features one has now announced to no longer support.
End of Support for Various Older OS Version

“As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use.” So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:
  • BlackBerry versions including BB 10 OS
  • Windows Phone 7.1
  • Android 2.1 + 2.2
  • Nokia S40
  • Nokia Symbian S60
Android users with the opportunity to do so, can optionally install software update, all other its commitment to migrate to Android, iOS or Windows Mobile 10 close. For BlackBerry users also could the possibility be interesting to install the Android version of the Messengers, which should not be a problem.
