Netflix this week puts universal Windows 10 app at the
Windows Store, now contains the interface with vertical scrolling and
horizontal scrolling for categories for videos within the sections. The app can
be pinned to the taskbar and added to the start menu. Further, the app integration for Cortana, in
countries where the search service is enabled in the OS. US users can use
Cortana directly to find videos collection of Netflix.
The app is called a universal app, it does not mean that the
application directly to mobile phones becomes available. Initially it will
appear for desktops, laptops and tablets running on Windows 10. In the
'foreseeable future' is the version for smartphones running on Windows 10,
promises Netflix.
Both apps are based on the same code, while the earlier apps
from Netflix for Windows and Windows Phone still had different code bases.
"When we brought new functionality to Windows platforms, we had to make
changes to multiple code bases and we had to perform updates to multiple
applications," wrote Netflix.
The new app is based on Javascript using Microsoft WinJS library. To make viewing of Netflix video of HTML5 engine which also use the
service for browser display bet. Microsoft also made known that the Windows
Store already visited 2.5 billion times since the release of Windows 10, and
that Pandora comes with a Windows 10 app.
