Samsung has brought to market some of its tablet running
Windows, with the lineup of these devices called Ativ. Probably for poor sales,
the Korean company has not launched a product more Ativ for some time. The
final months of last 2015 have been circulating rumors that Samsung would announce
by 2016 a 12-inch tablet running Windows 10 out-of-the-box, and this tablet,
called Galaxy S TabPRO, was officially presented on 5 January for the Samsung
press conference in Las Vegas for CES 2016.
The announcement of the Galaxy S TabPRO following
certifications Wi-Fi and Bluetooth received last December from Samsung 12-inch
tablet with Windows 10 and model number SM-W700 and follows the leaked images
of the tablet in the morning preview of the presentation via Twitter.
Samsung Galaxy S TabPRO wants to be the response of the South
Korean manufacturer to Microsoft's Surface and the newly announced ThinkPad X1
Tablet Lenovo. Strangely, the tablet runs the Windows 10 platform, although the
name "Galaxy" has been to date usually reserved for Android devices.
Arriving at the detail of the device, Samsung Galaxy S TabPro
combines the technology of Samsung with the operating system Microsoft Windows
10 into a tablet for premium. By integrating the most popular features of
laptops and tablets, users now have access to complete functionality of a
notebook PC in a lightweight tablet for what Samsung calls "the most
'productive mobile experience even on-the-go."
"Galaxy S TabPro balances the best of the Samsung Galaxy
Tab with the rich functionality of the Windows 10 operating system to
experience the most advanced tablet on the market," said Dongjin Ko,
President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.
"We are excited to work with Microsoft to offer a 2-in-1 tablet that
allows people to really enjoy dla productivity and connections that matter
most, through a mobile station without interruption."
Galaxy S TabPro will appeal to users looking to maximize
their productivity at home, in the office, or on-the-go. The tablet offers the
functionality of a PC with Windows 10, so that consumers and business users can
enjoy all the features and functionality of the operating system Windows 10, as
well as compatibility with their existing IT infrastructure.
With 6.3 mm thick and weighing only 693 grams (Wi-Fi version,
the LTE model weighs 696 grams), Galaxy S TabPro is designed to be easily
transported. A cover with full-size keyboard is supplied with the device to
improve usability. The keyboard has a touchpad that emulates that of a PC. The
tablet measures 290.3x198.8x6.3mm.
Galaxy S TabPro is the first tablet with Windows Super AMOLED
display on the market, and has a 12-inch multitouch screen with a contrast of
colors deeper with 94 percent of natural tones. The tablet offers an advanced
technology of Samsung to maximize performance and energy efficiency.
It 'the first tablet, powered by Windows to support mobile
connectivity LTE Cat 6. The battery of Galaxy S TabPro can recharge in only 2.5
hours, and provides up to 10.5 hours of battery life. The tablet is powered by
a latest-generation Intel Core M (2.2GHz Dual Core) and mounts a 5MP rear
camera and a 5MP camera front. 4GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB SSD memory. To
improve productivity, Samsung makes available a multi-port adapter (HDMI, USB
Type A and C) and Bluetooth (available separately). Galaxy S TabPro will be
available globally in starting in February 2016. The price has yet to be
announced.
